Elective - Civil War Course Description

Grades 10-12


This course focuses on the socio-economic, political, and military aspects of the United States during the Civil War era, 1848-1877.  Topics of instruction include the causes of the war, battles and leaders, civilians and slaves, wartime politics, and reconstruction efforts.  The course will be taught primarily through discussions and lectures and students will be expected to participate in a number of group projects and write one major research paper.
