Dear Penns Valley Community,
School safety continues to be a hot-button issue across the country. Although the Penns Valley Area School District has implemented a number of new safety measures in our schools since our school safety meeting (and subsequent survey) in 2019, PVASD does not currently employ any school safety staff (Bald Eagle, Bellefonte, State College, and CPI all employ safety personnel). Please join us online or in person for one or all of our Town Hall meetings this fall to discuss the use of school safety staff in schools and whether employing school safety staff is right for Penns Valley. The first Town Hall meeting will be on Tuesday, October 18th. There will be two more Town Hall meetings on October 27th and November 9th. All meetings will begin at 6:00 PM in the high school auditorium. You can also attend virtually if you like. There is one zoom link for all three of the meetings. Click here to join.
The meetings will allow our school leaders to...
- Obtain valuable insights into people's perspectives on the employment and effective use of school security staff (SSS)
- Assess the level of support and identify concerns from different stakeholders
- Manage the responsibilities of SSS to meet community and school expectations (in the event we do employ SSS)
Join the conversation. We look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Nate Althouse
Community Relations Director
