Safe2Say Helpline
As a school system, we are committed to creating and sustaining a comprehensive, coordinated effort to improve the overall safety and well-being of our students and staff. To do this, we believe we must partner with community-wide programs and initiatives involving parents, teachers, administrators, local law enforcement, mental health and wellness professionals.
One of our initiatives to help ensure the safety and well-being of our students is to provide a way for students, parents, and community members to communicate a concern or a troubling situation regarding the safety of our students and our schools. Additionally, we want to provide a way for students to get twenty-four hour help and support for life-threatening situations. Given this, our district has made available an anonymous reporting helpline.
Beginning January 14, 2019, in conjunction with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, we are offering the Safe2Say Something anonymous reporting system. This program, which is mandated under PA state law / Act 44, teaches students, teachers, and administrators how to recognize warning signs and signals, especially within social media, of individuals who may be a threat to themselves or others and Say Something to a trusted adult OR use its anonymous reporting system. Specifically, the program educates participants to:
- Recognize the signs and signals of at-risk behaviors – especially within social media
- Take every sign and signal seriously; act quickly to get help by talking to a trusted adult OR
- Report it anonymously through the S2SS Office of the Attorney General 24/7 Crisis Center, mobile app, or website
The Safe2Say reporting system may be accessed by calling the crisis center at:
1-844-SAF2SAY
(1-844-723-2729)
or
through the website: Safe2Say
or
the free Mobile app (for either Apple or Android)
We believe that this helpline will provide our students, parents and community members a way to report concerns or information in a timely manner so school personnel can proactively work to make our schools as safe as possible.
If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call or email your building principal.
