We are excited to introduce Charge into Reading, a literacy initiative designed to inspire and strengthen a love of reading beyond the classroom. Our goal is to create a community-wide culture where reading is celebrated, encouraged, and embraced as an enjoyable part of everyday life.
To help bring this vision to life, we are seeking district and community members who are
interested in serving on our Steering Committee. This group will help shape the initiative, develop meaningful opportunities to encourage reading outside of school, and identify ways our schools, families, local organizations, and community partners can work together to promote literacy.
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about literacy and interested in helping us:
- Build excitement around reading in our community
- Encourage children and families to make reading a regular part of their lives
- Develop community-based reading opportunities and experiences
- Connect schools with local organizations, businesses, and community members
- Help create a sustainable initiative that grows over time
You don't have to be an educator to make a difference! We welcome families, community leaders, business owners, retirees, students, non-profit representatives, and anyone who believes in the power of reading. The first meeting will be held in late September.
If you are interested in helping our community Charge into Reading, we would love to have you join us. Interested individuals should email Dr. John W. Zesiger (jzesiger@pennsvalley.org) or call 814-422-2000 if you have any questions.
It's a GREAT Day to be a RAM!
